Life Hack: Insider Secrets to getting that annual mammogram done in 30 minutes.
Here’s how…
First, find an accredited in 3D Mammography facility close to where you live. The American College of Radiology awards accreditation to facilities passing a rigorous testing process which evaluates the applicants for high-quality imaging and practice standards. Any facility listed on their site has gone to great lengths to prove their competencies in offering high-quality mammograms.

Once you find a reputable Mammogram Facility in your area
Call them and ask the following 3 questions:
1 “Do I need a doctor’s order to get a screening mammogram?”
Some Independently-owned facilities eliminate the hurdle of needing an order for a mammogram. While it is always recommended to see your regular primary care provider for an annual check-up, legally you do not need a prescription or doctor’s order to have a mammogram done.
2 “Do you have a Board-Certified Radiologist on-site who provide exam results while I wait?”
With the mass proliferation of teleradiology, which means a radiologist is reading diagnostic exams from lots of different off-site locations, most Mammogram Centers do not provide mammogram results to patients while they wait. Without having a doctor look at your images while you are in the mammogram department, you will be making one or several trips back for follow-up testing if the radiologist finds an area of concern on your mammogram.
3 “Can I schedule my mammogram today?”
Most facilities have an average wait time of 1–3 weeks to get an appointment. There are cancellations daily, so getting on a ‘wait list’ should get you in right away. There are also some facilities who have SPECIALLY DESIGNATED APPOINTMENTS for new patients. If you are new to the facility, the radiologist will want any previous mammograms you have had. Either bring them with you on a CD (provided by previous facility at no cost) or have the scheduling facility arrange to have them sent prior to your arrival.
Lastly, know that having a mammogram does not prevent breast cancer but having one annually does significantly increase the chances of detecting breast cancer sooner. In the battle against cancer, early detection gives you more treatment options and can allow for a less-aggressive treatment plan.
